Successful field trial of Novomet Rotary Displacement Pump
In the beginning of 2016 OMV Petrom S.A., a Romanian integrated oil company, the largest oil and gas producer in Southeast Europe, announced successful completion of 180-day field trial of a rotary displacement pump (RDP) manufactured by Novomet.
Rotary displacement pumps are a new generation of vane-type pumps designed for low-productivity wells with viscous fluids. Increased reliability of the system is achieved through hard alloys used for production of certain pump components.
• Series 362
• Flowrate 5 to 15 m3/day
• pump head up to 2500 m
• fluid viscosity 20 – 1000 cSt
• shaft speed 500 – 1000 rpm
Field trial of RDP was conducted in Otesti field which is characterized by high viscosity of production fluids. Rotary displacement pumps feature increased efficiency and head capacity with viscous fluids.
At the moment the unit is still running.
Later in the year Novomet is planning to offer RDP units to other European oil producers.
In spite of the difficult economic situation, innovative equipment manufactured by Novomet is continuing to gain global market share.
